SMTP - 2860 was created by gokiwi
Hi,

I have a 2860 running version 3.8.9.8_BT, I am trying to configure smtp so that I can send emails for various alerts however no matter what I try it doesn't work.
I am trying to use googles smtp service and have the following settings

SMTP Server : smtp-relay.gmail.com
SMTP Port : 465
Mail To : my_emailaddress@gmail.com
Return Path : blank - nothing entered here
Use SSL : Yes (box ticked)

Anybody able to help at all ?

Are you a G Suite user :?: See: https://support.google.com/a/answer/2956491?hl=en

As a normal mortal, I get the following, trying to relay mail via Google :-

C:\> telnet smtp-relay.gmail.com 25
Code:
220 smtp-relay.gmail.com ESMTP h5sm38312lfc.117 - gsmtp helo phil 250 smtp-relay.gmail.com at your service mail from: 550-5.7.0 Mail relay denied [80.39.228.142]. Invalid credentials for relay for 550-5.7.0 one of the domains in: here (as obtained from HELO and MAIL FROM). 550-5.7.0 Email is being sent from a domain or IP address which isn't registered 550-5.7.0 in your G Suite account. Please login to your G Suite account and 550-5.7.0 verify that your sending device IP address has been registered within 550-5.7.0 the G Suite SMTP Relay Settings. For more information, please visit 550 5.7.0 https://support.google.com/a/answer/6140680#maildenied h5sm38312lfc.117 - gsmtp Connection to host lost. (That's not a real IP address ;-)

(Trying to connect to Port 465 via Telnet doesn't work, presumably due to a lack of handshaking)

Can you use your ISP's SMTP server instead?
