Mac address security on wireless access points was created by chillyphil
Hi All,
First post, hopefully i've got it right?
Using a vigour 2680 modem, with 8 wireless access points connecting through a smart switch.
I would like to use MAC address authentication to improve security.
I can see the option to use Mac address authentication with the routers own wifi setup but not with remote AP's.
I can see the bind IP to mac address and the option to secure it there.
Is there any way to to use the Mac address authentication without using fixed IP addresses?
Phil

if you are using AP - WLAN Profile , under each SSID setup use Access Control using Mode of White List
if you are not using the above, check Access Control under each Wireless Lan (2.4GHz) and Wireless Lan (5GHz)

Many thanks for that saqarra.
I've made the changes you suggest, but it only affects the wireless lan on the router.
I am trying to set up a white list on all the ap's which which are connected through the switch, to the router.
Do you know any way of doing this?

You don't say if you're using Draytek APs but if you are isn't the Access Control feature that which you seek? Or have I misunderstood?

Thanks Piste Basher,
I'm using a mix of ubiquiti ap's and draytek ap's.
The draytek ap's are fine, but I am trying to tie the other ap's into some sort of authentication.
I was hoping there was a way of ensuring that only authorised machines can access the internet.
