How do I choose the firmware vector support? was created by giacecco
Hi All, I own a 2860Vac running 3.8.4_VT1 that I've been using to connect to BT Infinity 2 directly (no Openreach modem).
I don't know if I was sleeping or what, but I had never noticed before today that there are many firmware versions, according to vectoring support implemented by my broadband operator. But how do I know which one I should use? Is using "no vector" good, in doubt? What is the "BT" vector, and does it apply everywhere in the UK?
Moreover, I've started experiencing line drops since using 3.8.4_VT1 that - at this point - I start thinking may be caused by "vector 1" that perhaps I shouldn't use. Where do I find out more? Thanks.

In the UK, always select the 'BT' variant by default. If you have any connectivity issues,
you can try others.

Thanks, does this advice apply to anyone in the UK or only BT customers, just for clarity.

All customers. The 'BT' refers to BT SIN498 compliance, not 'BT' the ISP.

Great thanks, I suggest renaming to "UK" then, from the perspective of the customer.

Sorry to hijack...but I have a brand new 2860ac. Before I install it, should I upgrade the firmware to the latest UK version?
I can see
http://www.draytek.com/ftp/Vigor2860/Firmware/v3.8.4.2/Vigor2860_v3.8.4.2-04BT_en.zip
, is that recommended for new installations?
I am on PlusNet fibre (80M)
FW version 3.8.2.3_VT1
DSL version 562301_A HW:A
Cheers,
