Vigor 120 + Apple Airport Extreme + Sky Broadband (ex O2) was created by drawde
Hi
I'm having difficulty getting my Vigor 120 to work with my Apple Airport Extreme on Sky Broadband (having recently been migrated over from O2 Broadband). I was previously using a Netgear DM111P with no problems, but since I had to reconfigure it for Sky it has been playing up so I've replaced it with a Vigor 120.
I've followed the instructions on the Draytek site for configuring my Airport Extreme, and I've used these details provided by Sky for the authentication details in the Airport:
http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband-Setup-Connection-WiFi/Moving-from-O2-to-Sky-Broadband-using-a-router-that-wasn-t/ta-p/1470481
The other settings seem to match the default for the Vigor 120 so I've not made any changes there.
The DSL light on the Vigor 120 stays solid as expected, but the Airport Express gets no internet connection and reports the following errors:
No IP Address
No DNS Servers
Username/Password incorrect
I've checked the username (install@o2broadband.co.uk ) and password () repeatedly and they're definitely entered correctly. They also work fine in the old Netgear DM111P (the problem with the Netgear seems to be an intermittent problem with its LAN interface. Its LEDs show that it is permanently connected to the broadband, so I don't think there's an issue there).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am not sure what set up you are using as the link says PPPoA but if you are using thr 120 then it should be pppoE
Out of the box you shouldn't need to touch the 120.
Put the airport in PPPoE mode with the authentication details and it will pass it through the 120/
The 120 ADSL light should come but not the internet light as that should show on the Airport

Hi sicon, thanks for your reply.
What you have described is exactly what I've done already, i.e. Vigor 120 untouched out of the box, Airport in PPPoE mode with the username provided by Sky. This config is giving me the errors (and associated lack of internet connectivity) described in my original post.
I might try to connect using the Vigor 120 connected directly to a Windows PC, but I'm reluctant to do so because it's such a pain to get the old Netgear to reconnect to the LAN.
Any other suggestions appreciated!

i am not with sky but what is the current firmware at the vigor? also have you got the 120 v2 or the v1> at the bottom of the modem if is staying v2 then you have the v2
2-
also if your exchange has mer see this post because maybe the modem trying to connect with mer???

Hi babis3g. It's the 120 v2 that I'm using.
I've tested it with the Vigor 120 connected directly to a PC (no router) and it works perfectly. So the problem is with the Vigor 120 talking to the Airport.
I've also tried a second Airport Extreme with the same result, i.e.
It's adamant that the PPPoE password is incorrect (it isn't - there isn't a password)
It's not getting an IP address
It's not getting DNS servers

the links up did not helped? when tried with mer or pppoa?
it could be something with the airport maybe a firewall?
also latest firmware is here if will help you
ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor120%20V2/Firmware/V3.2.6/
maybe a firmware upgrade of the airport helps?
also if it lets you set the dns at the 120 and also if you have dynamic ip try tick it if let you (needs pc first) or at airport
