2820 and ADSL2+(G.992.5) and ADSL2(G.992.3) was created by terry allan
Hardware: DrayteK Vigor 2820

I have just been upgraded to an "up to 24Mbps download" business contract with an Entanet-related ISP. This happened because of a recent upgrade to my local exchange. Speed tests indicate that I am managing around 2Mbps or just below for download and 0.7Mbps upload.

On querying this with my ISP it was suggested that my modem should be configured for ADSL2+(G.992.5) and not ADSL2(G.992.3). I did this as shown in the screenshot below.

This is verified in the next screenshot.

However, the next screenshot of System Status shows that once connection is made the ADSL2+(G.992.5) setting does not persist. It looks as though the setting is ADSL2(G.992.3).

Ideas, thoughts, comments would be most helpful.

Have I not set the router properly?

Does the online status indicated ADSL2(G.992.3) on my router (as per screenshot) represent a negotiated situation with the exchange and so the supplied screenshot indicates that the exchange has not been configured to accommodate this protocol in my situation?

Does this indicate a router issue?

Best wishes

Terry

Have you tried setting VCI to 101? This is the normal setting for BT/BE There ADSL2+ exchanges?

2900Gi/v2.5.6; 2900/v2.5.6

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately that doesn't help. I did try it.

The SNR Margin seems very high.
The normal value is usually around 6. Ask your ISP if they can change your line profile to use SNR of 6 and see if that helps.
I would also ask them to confirm exactly what settings you need for the connection - I am with Be and need to use the MPoA connection rather than PPPoE / PPPoA

that certainly doesn't look right. as runningdeere said, the standard profile is 6dB.
have a look at the graph here:
http://www.internode.on.net/residential/internet/home_adsl/extreme/

and check it with the distance of your house from the exchange to confirm what speeds you can expect with good wiring etc.

2820 = 3.3.2_RC5
2950 = 3.2.4

i asked Be regarding this... sometimes its down to the line conditions - mine will jump between ADSL2 and ADSL 2+ depening upon the lines mood!
